Measurable Results

Achievement within Hope Academy takes many forms. Completion of a 15-month Feasibility Study leading to the establishment of Hope Academy was a major accomplishment. Locating an ideal site for the larger Hope Academy, after a 30-month search, and raising the capital to acquire this land and commence Phase I construction are indeed major accomplishments. However, the achievements that matter most—and those which will reap societal benefits for India the longest—are the achievements attained by the children who are the students of Hope Academy

It is impossible to take in the words and images within this Hope Academy website without recognising the joy brought to our children… a joy which comes from their sense of belonging, a joy that comes from their sense of being appreciated for their individual uniqueness, and a joy that comes from understanding that it is realistic to hope for—and to energetically pursue—a fulfilled, happy and purposeful future. These are exceptional achievements… most notably for children who had formerly been amongst the most disadvantaged of southeast India.

For an educational institution, achievement is ultimately measurable and quantifiable by the performance of its students. Hope Academy has built and is strengthening an internal culture in which data are regularly collected, analyzed, and applied to manage, implement and improve its educational programs. How well information is analyzed, presented, understood, and applied by students is the ultimate test of every school’s effectiveness. Across India student performance is measured annually. Standardised tests and other forms of measurement are established and deployed as critical means of assessing student performance. Based upon the measured results achieved by our students—often vastly exceeding national averages in India—Hope Academy’s programs and its students achieve impressive outcomes.

Annual Status of Education Report

ASER (Annual Status of Education Report) is an annual survey that provides reliable annual estimates of children’s schooling status and basic learning levels for each state and rural district in India. It is the largest citizen-led survey in India, and is also the only annual source of information on children’s learning outcomes available in India today. The findings are ultimately compiled into ASER reports. The six charts contained herein illustrate the exceptional performance of Hope Academy students when compared to national averages. These embrace not only reading and math, but also broader assessments, including student access to and familiarity with computers and the Internet, as well as percentages of school’s students who complete their studies and graduate. By these criteria, Hope Academy often perform at twice or triple Indian national averages. These are independent validations of achievement.
